Despite a few electrical hiccups, Clapton volunteers helped us create a successful and thoroughly enjoyable meeting, attended by more than 35 members. New and prospective members received a warm welcome, while members and volunteers enjoyed a lively game of boules—with Mr Paws also putting in a star appearance to make sure everything was in order.
The afternoon then moved on to a series of presentations. Hilary introduced a new monthly feature with a short talk about the Exploring Spirituality group. This was followed by an engaging talk from Professor Sukhdev Johal about his book, Murky Water, which examines the mismanagement and underinvestment of our privatised water companies and the consequences. (More details here: https://www.newham-u3a.org.uk/...) The talk was very well received and prompted plenty of questions.
With the sunshine doing its bit to lift everyone’s spirits, the meeting ended on a thoroughly enjoyable note, with plenty of good conversation and a few lucky raffle winners.
