Forest Gate Freedom Walk

ccfc

On Friday April 25th, twelve members of Newham’s U3a, went on a Forest Gate Freedom Walk led by Peter Ashan. We were joined by three people who work with Peter in his various voluntary groups based in Waltham Forest.
The walk started at Forest Gate Youth Zone and finished at Clapton Community Football Club. We stopped at various points of historical interest along the way including, the mural of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the site of the Underground Club ( featured in one of Forest Gate’s murals), Earlham Grove and Walter Tull. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and interesting morning. Apologies I was so engrossed I only took a photo at the end at Clapton football club.

I have also included a link below which introduces Peter and a few of the things we saw today.
